The London and St Thomas Association of REALTORS® is proud to announce the recipients of this year's LSTAR Scholarship. They are: Sophia Koladich, the granddaughter of LSTAR Member Judy Siskind, Courtney Simpson, the daughter of LSTAR Member Brian Simpson, Jack Phoenix, the son of LSTAR Member David Phoenix, and Sam Peifer-Dawson, the son of LSTAR Member Tracey Peifer.
This scholarship is intended to recognize two university or college-bound males and two university or college-bound females in their last year of high school who have demonstrated academic excellence, a high level of involvement in school and/or the community, maturity and responsibility, initiative and/or strength of character and to promote their higher education through a bursary of $1,500 each. Eligible applicants must be either the children or grandchildren of an LSTAR member or staff. The final recommendation was made by LSTAR's Scholarship Advisory Group, chaired by Mark Mohan and comprised of the following REALTOR® Members: Carrol Belanger, Neera Chopra, Michelle Orsini, Daniela Schmidt and Dan Polakovic.
Sophia Koladich is a graduate of the York Mills Collegiate Institute in Toronto. She will be attending UWO this Fall to study Kinesiology. After graduation, she hopes to attend the Chiropractic School in Atlanta.
Courtney Simpson graduated from Medway High School and has been conditionally accepted into the University of Waterloo's Pharmacy Program – an honour reserved for students who have demonstrated their commitment to a career in Pharmacy.
Jack Phoenix, a graduate of H.B. Beal Secondary School, plans to attend UWO where he hopes to achieve two degrees – a BA with Honours in Media, Information Technoculture (MIT) and a BA from the Richard Ivey School of Business Administration. Jack's brother Dillon received an LSTAR scholarship in 2012.
Sam Peifer-Dawson is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School who will attend the University of Ottawa in the Fall. Sam is enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering Co-operative Education program. Upon obtaining a Professional Engineering designation, Sam hopes to take his Master's Degree in Business Administration.
