Leadership 100 - On the Path to Volunteering

In this course, you will learn what it is like to volunteer with an association, how associations are structured, and what the role and expectations of volunteers are.  

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain how associations are structured and the different roles of staff and volunteers.
  • Identify the characteristics of not-for-profit associations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the various leadership roles and responsibilities in an association and how they are governed.
  • Explain the responsibilities of the board and volunteer committee/task force members.
  • Understand how decisions are made, who makes them, and what process is used to make these decisions.
  • Describe how elected leaders work with association staff.
  • Identify how to productively contribute to meetings and participate in effective discussion and decision making as a volunteer committee member.
  • Apply meeting procedures.
  • Understand what decisions must be made to balance volunteer time with work and family.

This course has four (4) parts which you will need to complete in sequence.
